JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The following is a list of general highway maintenance and construction work planned in the mid-Missouri area March 16 - 22, 2026. Weather conditions may postpone scheduled work. Many projects will include lane closures which could cause delays.
All Counties
In addition to the work listed below, other moving operations such as pothole patching, brush cutting, and pavement repairs continue in various locations. Motorists should travel with care and be alert for slow-moving equipment.
All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
Boone County
North Outer Road - CLOSED beginning March 16 at Cedar Creek, west of Callaway County Route J (near mile marker 136.6) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. There will be no designated detour, but signs will be located ahead of the closure to alert motorist to use an alternate route for the duration of the closure, which is expected through January 2027. **
U.S. Route 63 - Interchange improvements at Route AC (Grindstone Parkway) continue. This project is scheduled to continue through November 2026. More information: www.modot.org/projects/63ACInterchange.
Missouri Route 163 (Providence Road) - Single southbound lane closed for core drilling on March 19 between Vandiver Drive and Texas Avenue.**
Interstate 70 - New pavement construction from west of St. Charles Road (near mile marker 130) to the Callaway County line (near mile marker 136) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project, which has an overall completion date in 2027. **
Callaway County

Fourth Street - A portion of North Jefferson City Recreation Area is CLOSED for tree removal. The paved parking lot and playground are permanently closed. Fourth Street, the sports fields to the north, the gravel parking lot will remain open, and the playground will be relocated to Green Berry Acres Park.
Route J - Shoulder work planned March 16 - 19 from Route F to Route MM. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
U.S. Route 54 - Traffic shift at I-70 in Kingdom City. Westbound U.S. Route 54 has been moved onto the newly constructed bridge, and eastbound U.S. Route 54 shifted onto the current westbound lanes. All ramps are expected to remain open during this phase of construction, which is expected to continue into early April 2026. **
I-70 - New pavement construction continues from Route M (near mile marker 144) to Kingdom City (near mile marker 148) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect intermittent and long-term lane closures for the duration of the project, which has an overall completion date in 2027. **
Camden County
U.S. Route 54 - Pavement widening and driveway entrance improvements continue in Camdenton. Traffic is shifted between Business Route 5 and Bumper Hill Road, with one lane open in each direction, but no center turn lane. Drainage and driveway work scheduled from Whispering Pines to Panoramic Drive. The traffic shift is expected to remain in place through spring 2026.
Cole County
Missouri Route 179 - Tree trimming planned March 17 at Rock Creek bridge. The roadway will be CLOSED from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Motorist will need to seek an alternate route during the closure.
Cooper County
I-70 - Shoulder work continues from Missouri Route 5 in Boonville (mile marker 101) to the Missouri River bridge (mile marker 115) as part of the Improve I-70 Program. Motorists can expect lane closures nightly in both directions between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. with an 11-foot width restriction. **
Crawford County
North Outer Road 44 (Frontage Road) - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 at Landon Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 19 - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 from Seven Cedars Road to Missouri Route 49. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route N - Roadside work planned March 16 - 19 at Whites Creek. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route Y - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 from Route V to Route 49 in Iron County. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Dent County
Route B - CLOSED over Dry Creek bridge due to inspectors finding a sinkhole developing near one of the supporting structures. Motorist during the bridge closure can use Missouri Routes 19, 32 and 72 as detoured routes around the closure.
Route 19 - Culvert replacement planned March 17 - 19 at 7th street in the city limits of Salem. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route EE - Pothole patching planned March 17 - 19. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route F - Culvert replacement planned March 17 - 19 from Missouri Route 32 to County Road 6400. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Howard County
Missouri Route 124 - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 from Route A to Route Y. All lanes will be CLOSED from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Route H - Bridge maintenance planned March 16 - 19 over Salt Fork. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Routes HH and U - Roadside work planned March 16 - 19. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zones.
Route Y - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Laclede County
I-44 - Pothole patching planned March 16, eastbound only at mile marker 118.
Route 5 - Sealing operations planned March 16 - 19 in the city limits of Lebanon from 7th Street to Bland Road. One lane will be closed.
Route CC - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 at Newport Drive. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route J - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 at Oreiol Drive. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Maries County
Missouri Route 42 - Roadside work planned March 16 - 19. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 42 - CLOSED for a bridge deck replacement project over the Maries River. A signed detour is in place to direct motorist around the closure. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2026. (The Fly Creek Bridge on Route 42 will close soon after the Maries River Bridge reopens. The Fly Creek Bridge will remain closed through August 2026.)
Miller County
Missouri Route 52 - Bridge flushing planned March 16 - 17 over Panther Creek. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 17 - Bridge flushing planned March 16 - 17 over Osage River. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Bagnell Dam Boulevard - Culvert replacement planned March 18 from Route W to Valley Road. The roadway will be CLOSED from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Motorists will need to seek an alternate route during the closure.
Route 17 - Culvert replacement planned March 18, 0.75 miles south of Route C. The roadway will be CLOSED from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists will need to seek an alternate route during the closure.
Morgan County
Route 52 and Route 5 intersection - Roundabout pavement construction planned March 18 - 20.
Phelps County
County Road 8490 (Sugar Creek Road) - CLOSED for bridge rehabilitation over I-44 starting March 16. The on- and off-ramps at this overpass (Exit 176) will remain open and a signed detour will be in place. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2026.
Route BB - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 from Forum Drive to County Road 3440. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route O - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 from Missouri Route 72 to the Dent County line. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 72 - Pedestrian facility upgrades continue in Rolla. Work will require temporary closures of pedestrian facilities and intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers to direct motorists through the work zone. The project is scheduled for completion in March 2026.
Pulaski County
Missouri Route 133 - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 northeast of Richland from Route BB to Rosefinch Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Missouri Route 7 - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 at Rochester Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route T - Culvert replacement planned March 16 - 19 in Swedeborg at Apple Street. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Washington County
Missouri Route 8 - Shoulder work planned March 16 - 19 at from Missouri Route 185 to Ridgeway Road. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work zone.
Route 8 - Bridge rehabilitation over the Union Pacific Railroad. The roadway will remain open throughout the project but is narrowed to one lane. Motorists should expect delays. The project is scheduled to be completed in May 2026.
