WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Thursday, Congressman David Rouzer (R-NC-07), along with Congressmen Michael McCaul (R-TX-10) and and August Pfluger (R-TX-11), introduced H.R. 534, the Creating Obstructions Necessary To Address Illegal and Nefarious Entry Rapidly (CONTAINER) Act. This legislation would give border states the explicit authority to place temporary barriers on federal land to protect their communities and the entire United States against illegal immigration and the deadly flow of drugs. "The Biden Administration failed to enforce our laws and secure our border, even suing border states for executing more robust measures," said Congressman David Rouzer. "This has only empowered the drug cartels, human traffickers, and those who wish to do our nation harm, but the CONTAINER Act allows states to take common measures into their own hands and stop the crisis. This commonsense bill will bolster the strong border policies of President Trump and allow an all-of-the-above approach to securing our Southern Border."
"The Biden administration has left Texas and other border states with a raging border crisis on their hands - one that will take time and resources to stop. The CONTAINER Act allows states to quickly erect temporary barriers in times of crisis like these. No matter the administration in charge, this bill will empower states to protect their sovereign borders and keep their citizens safe," said Congressman McCaul.
"If the past four years of President Biden's open border disaster taught us anything, it is that states like my home in Texas should have the right to secure their borders when the White House refuses to do so," said Congressman Pfluger. "I am thankful President Trump will close the southern border when he returns to office, and I am proud to support this legislation that will ensure states are able to place temporary border barriers on federal land no matter the administration. Border security will always be national security." |
