After seven years of dedicated service to Citizens National Bank (CNB) and more than 35 years in banking, Timothy Timmer will retire on January 30, 2026, concluding a respected career in business banking and leaving behind a strong legacy of relationship-driven leadership. Timmer joined CNB in 2018, where he has been instrumental in developing and strengthening commercial and business relationships across Northern Michigan.
"Tim's legacy at CNB is defined by the relationships he built, the trust he earned, and the many businesses he helped along the way," said Matthew Keene, President & CEO of CNB. "We are incredibly thankful for his commitment and professionalism, and we wish Tim and his family every happiness as he steps into retirement."
A Northern Michigan resident for more than 25 years, Timmer built a reputation as a well?known and well?respected business banker throughout the region. Throughout his tenure at CNB, he was based in the Petoskey office and worked with customers from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan and as far north as Mackinaw City, earning trust through long?standing relationships and thoughtful financial guidance.
For many years, Timmer gave back to the community by serving on various boards, including the Jordan Valley Emergency Services Authority, Antrim County Economic Development, and the Antrim County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. He has also been an active mentor with the Tip of the Mitt chapter of SCORE and has volunteered as a judge for the American Kennel Club Beagle Field Trials.
In retirement, Timmer plans to continue his beef cattle farm and serve the community with volunteer work.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity I've had to work with such great colleagues and customers at CNB," Timmer said. "It's been a rewarding chapter of my career."
Stephen Daly and Jennifer Opie will proudly continue Tim's legacy by serving CNB's business customers in the Petoskey market.
