Natilus, a San Diego-based aerospace manufacturer of blended-wing aircraft, raised $28 million in Series A funding led by Draper Associates, with participation from Type One Ventures, The Veterans Fund, Flexport, and several other investors. Led by CEO Aleksey Matyushev, the company plans to use the funds to complete its first full-scale prototype of the regional cargo plane KONA, expected to fly within 24 months, and to advance development of its second aircraft, HORIZON EVO, designed to compete with the Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A321-neo. Founded in 2016, Natilus has already secured orders for over 570 aircraft from major customers including SpiceJet, Nolinor Aviation, Flexport, and Ameriflight, with a total order book valued at $24 billion.
