Minister of Foreign Affairs leads the discussion on digital economy development at OECD Ministerial Meeting in Paris

On 4 June 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, was the lead speaker in the discussion on "Promoting investment in the digital economy for resilience, inclusivity, and sustainability" at the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris.

The meeting discussed the importance of the digital economy and ways to promote investment and business in the digital economy, such as developing cloud infrastructure, developing digital knowledge for SMEs, cybersecurity, e-government, using tax and financial measures to promote the digital economy, and promoting business funding and digital innovation, as well as developing related business sectors such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors.

In this regard, the Foreign Minister emphasized that in order to promote the digital economy and its governance, countries should prioritize policy coherence, interoperability, and increase digital literacy for citizens. He underscored Thailand's readiness to participate in international discussions on this issue, including in ASEAN, as Chair of Negotiation Committee of ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA), APEC and OECD, as well as readiness to join the OECD Digital Policy Committee and the OECD Recommendations on AI, which set international principles for the development, use and management of AI.
