Maine GOP Gov Candidate Jonathan Bush Says He Wants to Kick "People with Jobs" Off of MaineCare
As the race to the right ramps up in the Maine Republican gubernatorial primary, Jonathan Bush - a failed out-of-state businessman with a shady background - said on The Robinson Report that he wants to strip thousands of working Mainers of their health care: "People with jobs rolling along on [MaineCare] destroys us."
Trump's budget law - which Bush has praised - has already gutted health care in Maine, forcing thousands of ACA enrollees in Maine to cancel their plans ahead of health care price spikes. Nearly one-third of the entire state's population relies on MaineCare for health coverage, and Bush's plans would push health care even further out of reach for Mainers.
Bush isn't the only Republican running for governor with a devastating record on health care - Bobby Charles praised the GOP budget law that has jacked up health care costs for over 60,000 Mainers, and Garrett Mason worked for years as a legislator to block MaineCare expansion.
"If you're working and on MaineCare, Jonathan Bush wants to take away your health care," said DGA spokesperson Kevin Donohoe. "As tens of thousands of Mainers lose their health care because of Donald Trump's budget law, Bush and the entire GOP field are loudly boasting about their plans to go even further."
