"The economic challenges of 2023 and the introduction of GenAI influenced the decline in communications technology spend as buyers sought to shift budgets for the new GenAI projects," said Marci Maddox, research vice president, IDC's Digital Experience Strategies research. "Flat to declining growth in 2023, and an early indicator of spending in 2024, shows organizations are remaining conservative in their investment of communications solutions."
