The Durst Organization to Welcome Casa Serra to Historic Front Street
NEW YORK, NY (October 5, 2026) - The Durst Organization today announced that Casa Serra, a new Italian restaurant and sister concept to popular East Village eatery House of Pasta, has signed a lease at 227 Front Street in the South Street Seaport Historic District. Led by Jazmin Rodriguez, Casa Serra is expected to open this winter, bringing the spirit and signature dishes of House of Pasta to a new, greenery-filled setting inspired by the building's architecture.
"Historic Front Street has seen strong momentum in retail leasing this year with the arrival of Kee's Chocolates, Mesa Bar, and now Casa Serra. Lower Manhattan brings together a growing residential population, tourism, and returning office tenants that all enjoy these new dining and retail concepts," said Jody Durst, President of The Durst Organization.
Casa Serra, or "Green House" in Italian, takes inspiration from the light-filled character of 227 Front Street. The concept was developed around the architecture of the historic space, where skylights will bring natural light into a dining room filled with trees, plants, and greenery, creating the feeling of an intimate indoor garden.
"The table has always been a place where people come together, and that feeling is at the heart of Casa Serra. When I first walked into 227 Front Street and saw the skylights, I could immediately picture the space filled with trees, plants, beautiful food, and people gathered around the table," said Jazmin Rodriguez, Owner of Casa Serra. "I've watched the Seaport evolve over the years, and seeing the neighborhood grow and thrive made finding this space feel especially meaningful. Casa Serra gives us the opportunity to bring what people love about House of Pasta into a new environment that feels connected to this community."
Casa Serra will share House of Pasta's approach to Italian cuisine, with many of its most popular dishes carrying over to the new restaurant. The menu will include favorites such as the mushroom and truffle white lasagna, bucatini alla pistachio, and milanese with fettuccini al burro, to name a few.
Casa Serra is expected to open this winter. Additional details on the opening date, hours, menu, and programming will be announced in the coming months.
The Durst Organization has carefully curated a mix of neighborhood-serving retailers and destination dining concepts on Historic Front Street, including the recently announced Mesa Bar and newly opened Kee's Chocolates, along with neighborhood staples - Seaport Pilates NYC, Peck Slip Social, Il Brigante, SUteiShi, and Seaport Paw, serving more than 70,000 residents and 233,000 office workers in Lower Manhattan.
The Durst Organization was represented in-house by Karen Rose and by Zach Nathan, Brandon Berger, and Hunter Lazan of KSR. Casa Serra was represented by Jack Hamadani at KSR.
