Pueblo Transit Updates South Shopping Route to Include City Park Stops

PUEBLO-Pueblo Transit announced an update to the South Shopping Route 5 beginning Monday, Nov. 17. The bus stop locations include stop at Pueblo City Park pool at Parkside Ln., the Pueblo Zoo at Zoo Ave. and at the east entrance of Pueblo City Park at Goodnight and Doston then leading to Prairie and Goodnight.

"This update to Route 5 and the South Shopping ride, meets a need for key stops in City Park," said Director of Pueblo Transit Ben Valdez. "At Pueblo Transit, we are always looking for better ways to serve the Pueblo community with routes, stops and upgrades. We're looking forward to seeing how ridership can increase during peak summer months when the pool is open and for Pueblo Zoo events."

While the Red Creek Ride Route 11 currently drives through City Park, these new stops plan for better access for families, children and patrons of City Park. This new update to South Shopping Route 5 requires a Red Creek transfer for riders, which picks up every hour on the 45-minute marker beginning at 7:45 a.m.

"We have looked for ways to improve commute and travel times for our community, updating the South Shopping Route is a way to help more people access City Park without long wait times or an unnecessary walk to their final destination," said Operation Supervisor of Pueblo Transit Chuck Lopez.

Pueblo Transit launched the new North Shopping Route 13 and South Shopping Route 5 in 2024, the first major route updates to bus routes since 1981. The new routes offer transfer points for more efficient riding experience to assist Puebloans with daily activities.
