Memphis, TN - The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announces upcoming traffic impacts as work continues on the bridge replacement project at the I-55 and State Route 14 (Third Street/US 61) interchange in Shelby County.
This project replaces multiple bridges at the I-55 and SR-14 interchange to improve safety and extend the lifespan of this important freight and commuter corridor in Memphis.
Beginning Tuesday, July 7, through Monday, August 3, motorists should expect nightly lane closures on Interstate 55 and State Route 14 between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. (times vary by date). At least one lane on I-55 will remain open during operations. All work is weather-dependent.
Motorists should take note of the following temporary roadway closures taking place from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.:
· July 10-12: I-55 Northbound closed nightly with signed detours in place.
· July 17: I-55 Northbound closed with signed detours in place.
· July 17-19: I-55 Southbound closed nightly with signed detours in place.
*July 17, I-55 Southbound and Northbound closures will not be simultaneous
· July 21-22: SR-14 will be closed nightly with signed detours in place.
· July 30: Alternating directional closures of SR-14 overnight.
· July 31: I-55 Northbound closed with signed detours in place.
Throughout the project, the following ramps will remain closed with signed detours in place:
· Northbound SR-14 to northbound I-55
· Southbound SR-14 to southbound I-55
· Southbound I-55 to southbound SR-14
· Northbound I-55 to northbound and southbound SR-14
