The City recently activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in support of the Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Golden Eagle exercise, a regional emergency preparedness exercise focused on strengthening coordination, communication, and response capabilities during large-scale incidents and disasters.
The Golden Eagle exercise brings together local jurisdictions, public safety agencies, emergency management personnel, healthcare partners, and regional organizations throughout the Bay Area to test emergency plans and enhance interagency collaboration. During the exercise, City staff practiced EOC operations including situational awareness, resource coordination, operational planning, and information sharing in a simulated emergency environment.
A special thank you to CERT volunteer Larry for volunteering his time to support the EOC exercise. Volunteers play an important role in strengthening our preparedness efforts and helping the City maintain readiness during emergency training and real-world incidents.
Participation in regional exercises like UASI Golden Eagle helps ensure the City remains prepared to respond effectively to complex emergencies while improving coordination with neighboring jurisdictions and partner agencies. The exercise also provided valuable hands-on experience for staff operating within the Incident Command System (ICS) and Emergency Operations Center framework.
