Evansville, Ind. - Jan. 8, 2025 - With expanded workforce of more than 1,000 personnel working the CenterPoint Energy southwestern Indiana electric system on Wednesday, significant restoration progress has been achieved with more than 11,000 customers restored since 6 a.m. Approximately 9,000 customers remain out of power as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, and crews will continue restoring power to customers' homes and businesses this evening and into tomorrow.

Given the significant progress, the company now believes it will be substantially complete with restoration efforts by the end of the day on Thursday, possibly sooner.

"Today, our crews and mutual aid partners have made incredible restoration progress with more than 11,000 homes and businesses restored with a continued sense of urgency into this this evening. This effort illustrates the dedicated and collaborative efforts from CenterPoint, local contractor and mutual assistance crews to prioritize customers and restore power across southwestern Indiana," said Shane Bradford, CenterPoint's Vice President, Indiana Electric. "As work continues, we are fully focused on making sure those remaining customers are restored safely and as quickly as possible."

Weather conditions remain hazardous
The current weather forecast indicates that extremely cold conditions will persist throughout the rest of the week, with little to no thawing expected. This ongoing cold weather underscores the importance of safe and efficient restoration efforts, and the company urges customers to make appropriate plans for themselves and their family members.

Continued updates
CenterPoint will continue to provide multiple updates each day until all customers have their power fully restored. Customers are encouraged to follow the company on social media platforms such as Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) for the latest information.
