Guadalupe Road & McQueen Road Intersection Improvements Project Begins Soon

Gilbert, Ariz. - Construction is scheduled to begin soon on a project designed to ease congestion and make the intersection at Guadalupe and McQueen Roads safer and more efficient for commuters, residents, and pedestrians.

This project is one of many funded through Gilbert's voter-approved Transportation Bond, the $515 million investment residents approved in 2021 to fix aging roads, ease congestion, and improve safety across town. It's a direct example of your dollars at work, improving your own community. What's Changing

To help traffic move more freely and keep drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians safer, the project includes:

  • New left and right turn lanes at every approach

  • An added through lane in each direction to keep things moving

  • A brand-new traffic signal and updated street lighting

  • ADA improvements o the intersection works better for everyone

  • Drainage improvements to help with flooding during storm events

  • Utility upgrades, including relocating SRP electric and irrigation lines

What Residents Can Expect

  • Timeline: The project will begin the week of August 31, and will take about 11 months to complete.

  • Roads will stay open. You'll still be able to access the intersection, but lane shifts, occasional turn restrictions, and delays are expected as crews work.

  • Work hours: Weekdays, daytime, starting as early as 5 a.m. during the summer to beat the heat.

  • Business and home access will be maintained throughout construction.

Construction can slow you down in the short term, but every lane shift and closure is moving us closer to a safer, better-functioning intersection. Please note that lane restrictions may remain in place during non-working hours to protect the safety of both crews and travelers.
