On January 15, 2026, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil-ur-Rahman Hashmi. The two sides had a friendly and in-depth exchange of views on China-Pakistan relations and issues of mutual concern.
Liu Jinsong stated that at the start of the new year, the two sides successfully held the Seventh Round of China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue. Amid an international landscape full of changes and instability, China and Pakistan have always remained united and cooperative, steadfastly supporting each other's core interests and consistently standing on the right side of history. The Chinese working groups are willing to work with the Pakistani counterparts to earnestly implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, and to take the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations as an opportunity to promote exchanges at all levels and cooperation across various fields, and accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
Khalil-ur-Rahman Hashmi stated that the Pakistani side firmly supports the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, and is willing to work with the Chinese side to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, deepen strategic synergy and practical cooperation, and advance the development of the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China.
