🇪🇺 #EuropeMonth2026 in Zambia is coming to an end — and what a meaningful celebration it has been. 🇿🇲✨

➡️ We began with the #EuropeDay reception, celebrated together as #TeamEurope with our partners and the inaugural EU-Zambia Youth Sounding Board, whose passion and energy brought this year's festivities to life.

➡️ The French and German Embassies moved us with the film Joyeux Noël - the remarkable story of the 1914 Christmas truce during the First World War. A powerful reminder of the values on which Europe was later built: human dignity beyond nationality, reconciliation, dialogue and belief that even in times of conflict, our shared humanity remains stronger than what separates us.

➡️The Black Forest photo exhibition by Giulio Ielardi, brought by the Embassy of Italy, offered a striking visual exploration of deforestation in Zambia and Malawi. Through glimpses into charcoal's supply chain, the exhibition reminded us of the fragile ecosystems we risk losing - and of our shared responsibility to protect them.

➡️️ The Youth Inspiration Club, organised by the European Union in Zambia together with cavendishuniversity zambia and our Youth Sounding Board, created space for honest conversations on peace, security & EU-Africa relations. Together with my dear colleague, EU Ambassador to the African Union, Javier Niño Perez, we engaged with young people in a conversation about their future. Real talk, real insights, true inspiration. This is exactly what we hoped to achieve.

➡️ The 2nd edition of Swedish Music Moments was an unforgettable evening celebrating the power of music to connect cultures. Incredible performances from Zambian artists Mr. Chanx, Mumba Yachi and Becky Chanteuse ➕ Swedish musician Lisen Rylander Löve = a truly special fusion of sounds & cultures.

➡️ The Finnish film Stormskerry Maja, a moving reflection on values that continue to shape Europe today: resilience in adversity, dignity, equality, and the quiet strength of community. Through the story of an ordinary woman facing hardship, isolation and change, the film reminds us that 's history has also been built through courage, solidarity & perseverance in everyday life.

Europe Month in Zambia beautifully reflected the EU's motto: United in Diversity. Through films, music, dialogue, photography and youth engagement, we celebrated the richness and diversity of European cultures while promoting shared values of respect, inclusion, sustainability and climate responsibility.
