Schlegel Named to Governor’s Advisory Committee on Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Related Disorders

Aug. 26, 2025

HARRISBURG - Rep. John Schlegel (R-Lebanon) was recently named to the Governor's Advisory Committee on Alzheimer's, Dementia and Related Disorders (ADRD). The advisory committee will support a new office with the same name within the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.

Last fall, Schlegel joined his House colleagues in supporting Act 111 of 2024, which established the Office of Alzheimer's, Dementia and Related Disorders (ADRD). Currently, more than 280,000 older Pennsylvanians suffer from the effects of ADRD.

The advisory committee, largely comprised of accomplished professionals in various medical disciplines as well as government and policy, will support and advise the ADRD office in addressing this growing public health crisis. It will focus on risk reduction, early detection and diagnosis, and support for caregivers and families.

"As a state representative and member of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee, I routinely work on issues affecting older Pennsylvanians and their families," said Schlegel. "It is my honor to serve on this important advisory committee and to work toward improving the lives of older Pennsylvanians who are afflicted with Alzheimer's and other dementia-related illnesses."
