City to Recognize Safe Streets Week November 9-15 with Pedestrian Safety Events

The City's Department of Transportation and Greensboro Police Department will recognize Safe Streets Week November 9-15 with events promoting pedestrian safety. This year's theme is "Watch for Me."

Throughout the week, 32 traffic cones will be on display in front of the Melvin Municipal Office Building (MMOB), representing the 32 lives lost in traffic-related crashes in Greensboro in 2025. The community is invited to leave a flower in memory of loved ones lost in a crash.

Safe Streets Week concludes on Sunday, November 15, with the World Day of Remembrance, a global observance honoring those who lost their lives or have been impacted by roadway crashes. Residents are encouraged to participate in the week's events to raise awareness about pedestrian safety and remember those impacted by traffic-related tragedies.

Scheduled events include:

  • Monday, November 9, noon to 1 pm: Safe Streets Week Kickoff Event & Safety Exhibition at the MMOB Plaza, 300 W. Washington St.
  • Tuesday, November 10, 11 am to 1 pm: Pedestrian Safety Campaign near the intersection of Market and Dudley streets at NC A&T State University.
