CASCADE - The Idaho Transportation Department will begin paving State Highway 55 through downtown Cascade, from Payette Street to Warm Lake Road, on Tuesday, May 5. Work is expected to continue through Thursday, May 7.
Paving will begin on the north end of town, and traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers in place. Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes. On Wednesday and Thursday, two lanes of traffic will remain open while crews pave the rest of town.
On-street parking along SH-55 will be temporarily restricted during paving. The highway will remain open during construction, though brief closures may occur. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times.
Crews will work daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. No impacts are expected outside of working hours.
Workers will install permanent striping as soon as conditions allow. Temporary markings will be in place until then.
This work will improve the roadway surface, provide a smoother ride and extend the life of the highway.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down, follow posted signs and watch for crews in the work zone. For the latest highway conditions, visit 511.idaho.gov.
