Industry session will explore how intelligent roadside technology is redefining vehicle capture and toll system performance
Carlsbad, Calif. - October 22, 2026 - a global transportation technology company that is partnering with customers to [re]imagine tolling, transportation, and mobility technology solutions, today announced that Ed Rudolf, Vice President of Advanced Solutions, will present "From Roadside Detection to Action: Innovations in Toll System Monitoring" during the Monitoring, Control & Operational Intelligence session at the Toll Insight Innovation Showcase 2026 on October 27, 2026.
The annual event brings together toll operators, technology providers, system integrators, consultants and industry leaders to share innovations, best practices and emerging technologies that are shaping the future of tolling.
In his presentation, Rudolf will explore a fundamental question facing the industry: What should a camera be?
For decades, achieving high-performance vehicle identification has relied on increasingly complex combinations of cameras, triggers, processors and roadside infrastructure. Today, advances in edge computing and artificial intelligence are creating new opportunities to improve performance while simplifying system design.
Using Neology's neoForce ™ platform as an example, Rudolf will demonstrate how intelligent roadside technologies are evolving beyond image capture to process information and support decision-making directly at the point of collection. The session will examine how innovations in vehicle capture, recognition, security and deployment flexibility are expanding what's possible in modern tolling environments.
"Transportation agencies are under constant pressure to improve performance, increase automation and maximize the value of their infrastructure investments," said Rudolf. " The next generation of roadside technology is making that possible by combining advanced imaging, on-device intelligence, AI-powered processing and proven industry expertise in a single platform. These innovations are giving agencies new options for how they design, deploy and manage tolling systems."
Attendees will gain insight into how emerging approaches to roadside detection can help increase accuracy, improve capture performance, strengthen system resiliency and simplify deployment. The session will also address the growing importance of privacy, cybersecurity and on-device intelligence as agencies evaluate future technology investments.
"Ultimately, agencies want solutions that deliver better performance without adding complexity," Rudolf added. "We're seeing a shift toward intelligent roadside platforms that can do more, require less infrastructure and provide greater flexibility to meet evolving operational needs."
