The Washington Forest Protection Association is proud to congratulate Cindy Mitchell, WFPA's Senior Director of Public Affairs and CFO, for being recognized by the Forest Resources Association (FRA) as the recipient of its 2026 National Technical Writing Award.
Mitchell received her award during FRA's 2026 Annual Meeting in South Carolina. Mitchell, who previously received the 2025 Western Region Technical Writing Award, advanced alongside other regional honorees who were considered for national recognition.
The national award honors Mitchell's technical release, Washington Voter Perception of Forest Management, which summarized WFPA's voter perception research on public attitudes toward forest management in Washington state. Mitchell partnered with strategic communications consultant Bryan Myrick on the release, helping translate WFPA's research findings into a clear, accessible publication for forestry professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders.
"We are grateful to FRA for recognizing our team's work, and thank outgoing FRA Chair Josh Sandt and Western Region Manager Lindsay Warness for this honor. It was a surprise," said Mitchell.
FRA's Technical Releases are quarterly publications that highlight technical advancements, research, and innovative programs across the forest products sector. Outstanding submissions from each region are selected annually by regional steering committees and considered for national recognition.
