July 14, 2026 - The City of St. Petersburg is launching the Sunrise St. Pete Non-Profit Community Support Services (NPCSS) Program, a new initiative that will provide funding to nonprofit organizations delivering critical services to residents recovering from Hurricanes Idalia and Helene.
The NPCSS program will have multiple grant opportunities and is designed to strengthen the nonprofit sector's ability to meet those growing needs while helping St. Petersburg residents recover, rebuild and become more resilient in the face of future disasters.
The NPCSS Program will release a series of Requests for Applications (RFAs), each focused on a specific community need. The first funding opportunity will support mental health services and wraparound care, including case management, assertive outreach and clinical mental health services provided by eligible nonprofit organizations serving St. Petersburg residents.
The City anticipates awarding approximately $1.25 million in total funding through this initial RFA.
Organizations interested in applying are encouraged to attend a virtual information session on:
Friday, July 17, 2026, 11 a.m. - Noon
City staff will provide an overview of the funding opportunity, eligibility requirements, application process and federal compliance requirements. A recording of the session will be posted afterward for those unable to attend live.
RFA opens: Monday, July 27, 2026, at 12 noon
Application question period: Monday, July 27, at 12 noon through Friday, Aug. 7, at 5 p.m.
Applications due: Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, at 3 p.m.
Tentative City Council award approval: Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026
Eligible organizations must be registered nonprofit organizations with current 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(19) status, possess a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), have operated within the City of St. Petersburg for at least three years, demonstrate experience providing similar services and be in good standing with the City, the State of Florida and the IRS.
The NPCSS Program is part of Sunrise St. Pete, the City's long-term disaster recovery initiative funded through HUD's Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery program. The funding supports long-term recovery efforts while helping communities become more resilient to future disasters.
