Dr. Jasmine Zapata named keynote speaker for Mission Week

The Office of Mission and Ministry will welcome Dr. Jasmine Zapata, H Sci '09, back to campus as the Mission Week: Act with Grace keynote speaker on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Zapata will deliver a talk inspired by grace-fueled resilience, sharing powerful stories of overcoming obstacles and finding hope in the midst of challenges.

The keynote will be moderated by Dr. William E. Cullinan, dean of the College of Health Sciences. and will include a short Q&A.

Zapata is the chief medical officer and state epidemiologist for maternal-child health and chronic diseases for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. She is also an accomplished author, physician, motivational speaker, mother and community leader whose life and work exemplify strength through faith and perseverance.

Through her experiences and insights, the campus will learn how discovering grace can fuel resilience and empower people to rise above life's storms with courage and purpose.

"Jasmine was a fantastically bright, driven and motivated student while at Marquette and she has only continued those traits throughout her career in medicine and public health," Cullinan said. "I can't wait to hear her tell her story of resilience and hope and how she proceeds with grace every single day."
