Update: Scheduled Closures for Caldecott Tunnel Bore 1 on Eastbound State Route 24 (SR-24)

Alameda and Contra Costa Counties - Caltrans had recently scheduled overnight closures of Bore 1 in the Caldecott Tunnel, located on eastbound State Route 24 (SR-24) in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, to perform lighting upgrades and routine maintenance. However, tonight's closure has been canceled due to weather conditions. The closure originally planned for Thursday, April 2, 2026, is still scheduled to proceed from 10:00 PM to 4:30 AM, weather permitting. Please note all scheduled work is subject to change based on weather conditions.

  • Resumes Thursday, April 2, 2026

While this closure is in effect, all other bores in both directions will stay open.

Traffic Control Measures:

Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time. Please drive with caution through the construction zone. Slow for the Cone Zone.
