Marshall, Oct 15 - Nine students from Canby High School toured the Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) carbohydrate plant here yesterday.
The students that participated in the tour were from the school's Career and Tech Ed class. During the tour, the students learned about ADM's operations, renewable energy production and potential career opportunities.
The tour was organized by the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association (MN Bio-Fuels). ADM is a member of MN Bio-Fuels.
"It was a pleasure to host students from Canby High School's Career & Tech Ed class with our producer member plant, ADM in Marshall. In addition to gaining insights into possible career pathways, the students had an opportunity to learn more about the various ways ethanol production in Minnesota benefits the state - through strengthening our rural economies, lowering prices at the pump, and reducing reliance on foreign oil," said Brian Werner, executive director at MN Bio-Fuels.
Dan Lutgen, technology/industrial educator at Canby High School, accompanied his students during the tour.
"I hope that students had their eyes opened to career avenues that are local to them," he said.
