Update on Kansas City's Winter Weather Response

For immediate release: Sunday, January 25, 2026

Snow Team crews are continuing to push through 24/7 plow operations to clear Kansas City streets. Dangerously cold temperatures are expected to extend through Monday, January 26, 2026. Drivers should proceed with caution on the roads and give any snow plow drivers plenty of space. Residents are advised to stay indoors whenever possible and to prepare for winter weather accordingly.
  • Trash & Recycling:
    • Collection is cancelled on Monday, January 26, due to dangerous temperatures.
    • Collections will resume on a one-day delay starting on Tuesday, January 27.
    • Residents will be able to set out two (2) extra bags without trash tags on Saturday, January 31 to make up for the cancelation on Saturday, January 24.
  • Bulky Item Collection:
    • Appointments for Monday, January 26 are cancelled.
    • All appointments will resume on a one-day delay starting on Tuesday, January 27.
    • Appointments from Saturday, January 24th will be collected on Saturday, January 31.
    • If desired, you can cancel your bulky appointment through the myKCMO app, calling 816-513-BULK, or contacting 311.
    • After cancelling your appointment, you can schedule a new bulky appointment on this webpage or contact 311.
