Leader Schumer Statement On The Supreme Court’s Order To Extend Full Access To Mifepristone

Washington, D.C. - Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement after the Supreme Court extended full access to mifepristone nationwide:

"Medications such as Mifepristone have been proven safe and effective and have been widely relied upon for decades. Today's order preserves access for the time being, but it does not change the fact that safe access to abortions and reproductive health care remains under attack. Anti-abortion extremists are still weaponizing the courts to restrict this safe and trusted medication nationwide-risking women's lives-despite decades of clear medical evidence that mifepristone is safe. Senate Democrats will keep working to protect women's freedom to make the health care decisions that are right for themselves and their families."
