HONOLULU - The Hawai'i Department of Health (DOH) Food Safety Branch authorized the reopening of Chef Chai, issuing a green "pass" placard after its new owner applied for and received a food establishment permit.
Chef Chai received a red placard on Nov. 12 for operating without a valid food establishment permit. The restaurant, located at 1009 Kapiʻolani Blvd, is operated by Pomaikai Culinary Group, LLC. The purpose of the follow-up inspection was to ensure that no critical food safety violations were observed.
The DOH Food Safety Branch protects and promotes the health of Hawai'i residents and visitors through education of food industry workers and regulation of food establishments statewide. The branch conducts routine health inspections of food establishments where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold.
