Congressman Al Green to Host Press Conference for Medicare for All Day of Action Honoring the Legacy of Medicare and Medicaid

(Houston, TX) - On Thursday, July 30, 2026, Congressman Al Green will host a press conference in recognition of the Medicare for All Day of Action and the 61st anniversary of the signing of the Medicare and Medicaid Act into law. Congressman Green will be joined by Texas State Representatives Alma Allen and Ron Reynolds, National Nurses United, and the Texas Organizing Project (TOP). The press conference will take place at Avenue 360 Health and Wellness Southwest Clinic located at 14095 South Main Street, Houston, Texas 77035 at 1:00 p.m. CT.

Signed into law on July 30, 1965, Medicare and Medicaid transformed health care in the United States by expanding access to millions of seniors, people with disabilities, children, families, and vulnerable Americans. The programs remain a lifeline for communities across the nation, particularly underserved communities that continue to face significant barriers to health care.

Congressman Al Green stated, "When I stood during the Joint Session of Congress to declare that there was no mandate to cut Medicaid or Medicare, I stood for the millions of working Americans who depend upon these programs. In the richest country in the world, we cannot allow health care to become wealth care such that one's wealth determines the quality of one's health. We honor the legacy of those who fought to establish these programs by protecting them, strengthening them, and ensuring that quality health care remains within reach for every American."
