A family was threatened during a home invasion at a residence in the 700 block of College Avenue by a man who was unknown by the homeowners.
On November 7, 2025, just after 12:00 a.m., the family was asleep at their residence when they heard someone break in. The man was confronted by the homeowner and told to leave at which point he armed himself with a butcher knife from the kitchen and began stabbing himself. The man turned toward the homeowner and cornered them while still in possession of the butcher knife.
The Winnipeg Police Service was contacted and North District General Patrol officers responded and arrested the man within minutes.
Due to the man's self-inflicted stab wounds, the man was taken to the hospital by ambulance in stable condition. Substance use is believed to be a factor and no other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
A 26-year-old man has been charged with the following:
