Port Clinton City Schools Announce 4.5 Star Rating for Academic Success

Port Clinton City School District is proud to announce the district has achieved a 4.5 out of 5 star rating from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. Patrick Adkins, Superintendent of Schools, is pleased with the district's rating:

"We are very proud of our students and staff for all the hard work they put in every day, not just on test days. At Port Clinton Schools, we believe every staff member plays a crucial role in the learning process and are fortunate to have a great staff who care about our kids. Our educators, school leaders, and students have demonstrated remarkable dedication in this area, and we're excited to celebrate their commitment reflected in the school's 4.5 star rating on the state assessment."

Kelly Croy, Director of Innovation and Instruction for the district, added, "This achievement was fueled by our educators' commitment to the DLT Core 4 plan, which provides the framework to elevate student growth and learning across the district. Numerous initiatives have been implemented, and teamwork-along with the support of our board of education and community-has made this progress possible."

According to an ODEW summary of the report card "Districts and schools receive overall ratings of 1-5 stars in half-star increments. The overall rating is comprised of six rated components: Achievement; Progress; Gap Closing; Early Literacy; Graduation; and College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness. In the summary, Stephen D. Dackin, Director of ODEW, stated, "Setting the course for school improvement is a complex, interwoven set of ever-changing variables. The one constant is the dedication from school communities. It's important they have the tools needed to make a difference."
