RALEIGH- Five Campbell Law School students are going to "go over the edge" of the Pendo Building across the street for a good cause on Saturday, Sept. 27.

"It is a great and fun fundraiser," said Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard about this year's "Over the Edge" challenge, which supports Special Olympics North Carolina.

Several Campbell Law alumni are sponsoring students of Restorative Justice Clinic Director Jon Powell '98 and Richardson Family Education Law Clinic Director Lisa Lukasik.

These brave law students who aren't afraid of heights are Cole Bright and Caroline Shabet along with Lauren Collins, Christina McClureand Elijah Colpaert.

Charles Brittain '96, who currently serves as Public Guardian for Cumberland County, and Billy Richardson '80, for whom the Richardson Family Education Law Clinic is named, have agreed to donate the full $1,000 fundraising minimum to sponsor these students to "Go Over the Edge" as Powell did a few years ago in honor of his brother who he describes as "a special needs kid who had a profound impact on shaping my life."

Special Olympics Director of Development Walker Brittain said it is the second year the event will be held at the Pendo Building, which is 19 stories tall.

Powell, who went "Over the Edge" at the Wells Fargo Building two years ago for Special Olympics N.C., added in an email invitation to students, "It is for a great cause and is definitely an experience you will not soon forget. My drop began at the top of the Wells Fargo Building, pretty scary stuff, and ended in the arms of my proud 90-year-old mama. If you decide to do it, I don't think you will regret it."
