Caroline McKinley, ReMA's Manager of Federal Government Relations attended the U.S. Chamber's Critical Minerals Summit to discuss important issues and innovations facing the critical mineral value chain.
As manufacturers increasingly look for more materials for production, the recycled materials industry will be a key partner in securing the manufacturing supply chain. Recycled materials help supply the critical minerals needed for batteries, electronics, energy infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing, supporting growing industrial demand.
Primary discussion topics at the Summit included permitting reform, competition with China, and mining. The need for a comprehensive critical minerals strategy was emphasized to give companies more regulatory certainty.
"As a major source of critical materials, it is important for the recycled materials industry to be present in discussions about policy and business opportunities in this space, such as the Chamber event," McKinley said. "Across the association, ReMA continues to educate stakeholders on the important role that recycled materials play in domestic manufacturing."
