- 13 Seats Open, Use eBallot Email
TAB members have until 11:59 PM on Monday, July 6, to cast their votes in the annual TAB Board of Directors elections in which 13 seats will be filled for the panel of broadcasters overseeing the management, development and execution of the organization's member services and legislative initiatives.
The open seats are designated for Radio and TV stations in various market sizes, as well as other membership classes, and represent almost one third of the 37-member Board.
GMs can cast votes only for seats representing their market classification, the slate of officers, and one Associate member seat. They should check their "spam" boxes emails from eBallot, the service provider TAB retains to conduct the elections, for the necessary links to cast votes.
Results will be announced at the TAB Show in Austin Aug. 5-6.
Board Member Responsibilities
The large number of directors reflects the size of the state and TAB's desire to ensure that stations in all market sizes and with different operating structures are represented in the volunteer leadership roles.
Board members meet four times each year, with a mix of in-person meetings at the TAB office in Austin and virtual meetings.
Directors advise TAB staff on member services and legislative policy, provide fiduciary oversight for the association, and assist with all major organizational efforts, including the PEP program, advocacy efforts in Austin and DC, and membership recruitment.
Board members are not compensated or reimbursed for traveling to meetings, nor do they receive complimentary admission to TAB events, but TAB does cover costs for traveling to Washington, DC, for targeted advocacy efforts.
