WATCH: On Veterans Day, Rep. McDonald Rivet Thanks Mid-Michigan Veterans and Promotes Federal Resources

FLINT- On Veterans Day, Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) reminds veterans in mid-Michigan that her office is able to help them navigate issues with federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), to ensure they receive the health care and benefits they are owed.

"Veterans have sacrificed so much for us and deserve all our gratitude. More than that, they deserve the support America promised them, but far too often, they encounter unfair roadblocks," said Congresswoman McDonald Rivet. "If you are a veteran in mid-Michigan struggling to get the benefits you deserve, please reach out to our office, and our team will do everything to make sure our country delivers the health care and services you earned."

Congresswoman McDonald Rivet's team has ample experience assisting veterans with a variety of issues, including checking the status of their VA claims, fixing errors with their benefits, and ensuring they get back pay they are owed. Veterans are encouraged to reach out through the Congresswoman's website, or they can call the Flint office at (810) 238-8627 or the Saginaw Township office at (989) 898-6060.

Below are testimonies from two of the dozens of veterans in mid-Michigan Congresswoman McDonald Rivet's team has assisted this year:

  • Dana Beasley, a veteran from Flint, said, "I had a wait of three to four months to get into the dental clinic, and from there it was just time-consuming… After I reached out to the Congresswoman's office, […] I got into the dental clinic a week after that… Don't give up hope. Contact your local congressman or congresswoman's office. They can help you."
  • Seth S., a veteran from Essexville, said, "Earlier this year, the VA withheld $16,000 from me over a clerical error on my DD214 form. I drafted a response explaining why they were wrong. With the help of Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet's office, we successfully appealed to the Army Review Board and got my money. If you're a local veteran and need help, please reach out to her office. They will do everything they can to get it taken care of."
