New Video Journalist on NYT Cooking

We're excited to announce that Kaan Oguz is joining NYT Cooking as a video journalist on our documentary team. In this role, Kaan will produce videos out in the field, including our series Secret's Out and Sandwich City, while also helping launch new series and projects. In all his work, he'll ensure our storytelling remains both visually compelling and journalistically rigorous.

Kaan comes to us from CNBC, where he has been a producer since 2023, producing news explainer videos and character-driven mini-docs that reach nearly 10 million subscribers across digital platforms. He led projects from pitch stage through final delivery, and he shot and edited original reporting, including coverage of the Sam Bankman-Fried trial and interviews with executives across tech and finance. Prior to CNBC, Kaan worked as a video producer and editor for Hodinkee, a site for watch enthusiasts, and Net-a-Porter and Mr. Porter, the luxury retailers.

He lives in Jersey City with his Boston terrier-pug mix, Tombul, which means "chubby" in Turkish. He is a world traveler - his last trip was through China, earlier this year - and his favorite food is kebabs.

Kaan will report to McGraw Wolfman and he starts today. Please join us in welcoming him to The Times!
