Orrick Continues Growth of Asia Energy Platform with Tokyo Hire

  • Andrew Duncalf joins Orrick as a partner on our Energy & Infrastructure team in Tokyo.
  • Andrew focuses on cross-border investment in innovative transactions across renewable, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and traditional energy projects. His experience includes advising on the world's first financing of a floating LNG unit, the first LNG-to-power project in Asia and one of the largest project financings in Africa for an LNG export project.
  • He will collaborate with Orrick's Tokyo and Singapore teams advising Japanese companies, export credit agencies, development banks, trading houses and other lenders and sponsors in their investments across Southeast Asia.
  • Andrew joins from A&O Shearman and follows the additions of Chambers Band 1-ranked E&I projects advisors Adam Moncrieff and Michael Tardif in Singapore; Global Head of Oil & Gas Anna Howell in London, who is also a Chambers Band 1 practitioner; and banking and projects partner Akira Takahashi in Tokyo.

"Andrew has advised on some of the most complex and innovative energy projects across Asia-Pacific, Africa, the Middle East and other regions and brings incredible experience and judgment to our team," said Adam Moncrieff, who leads Orrick's Singapore office. "I'm excited to reunite with him as we build out a full-service energy offering that delivers 'all-of-the-above' solutions to help our clients meet soaring demand. We continue to focus on top-tier support for our clients investing across Asia."

"We are excited to continue our growth in Tokyo, and to collaborate with our Singapore team to deliver exceptional service to our clients," said E&I partner Minako Wakabayashi, the leader of Orrick's Tokyo office.

"I look forward to collaborating with Adam, Michael Tardif and the entire Orrick team to support our clients at an incredibly dynamic moment in time for the energy market," said Andrew.

The firm has added 25 partners focused on the Energy & Infrastructure Sector across 13 markets worldwide since January 2025.
