The CER has activated its Monitoring Level 1 Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to keep a close eye on the flooding and escalating wildfire situation across the country. The EOC brings together CER experts to maintain situational awareness, facilitate coordination and information sharing and support staff safety. Activating the EOC now ensures we're prepared to respond quickly if needed.
At this time, no CER-regulated infrastructure has been affected, and we are not overseeing an active emergency on any of our regulated facilities.
Our top priorities remain people's safety and the protection of the environment. Most CER-regulated pipelines are located underground, which insulates them and lowers the risk of direct impacts from naturally occurring events like wildfires. CER-regulated companies are also required to maintain Emergency Procedures Manuals, which include plans for responding to all natural hazards.
We are thinking of everyone who has been impacted.
