On March 3, 2026 the working visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov to the Togolese Republic ended.
The final meeting with the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Strategic Forecasting of Togo, responsible for the promotion of investments and economic sovereignty, Arthur Lilas Trimua, was key to the implementation of the agreements reached the day before with the country's leadership.
The parties focused on the development of the legal framework. Belarus offered to speed up the preparation of agreements on investment protection and avoidance of double taxation, and the initiative was fully supported.
They also discussed cooperation projects between the Ministries of agriculture, chambers of commerce and industry and the use of export credits.
There is mutual interest on the trade agenda: Belarus is ready to import coffee, cocoa, fruits and nuts, as well as work on creating complex fertilizers for West African markets. Togo, in turn, is interested in recycling technologies, as well as the adaptation of Belarusian vehicles and assembly plants.
Preparations for the visit of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Togo, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, to Belarus were discussed separately.
The first-ever visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus to Togo laid a solid foundation for reaching a new level of cooperation: agreements were signed, agreements on cooperation in industry and agriculture were reached. The parties are moving on to their practical implementation.
