Baker Hughes Unveils Expansion of Le Creusot Facility with Advanced Testing and...

  • Expansion announced in 2025 significantly increases manufacturing capacity and testing capabilities for the next-generation zero-emission* compression technologies
  • French Minister Delegate for Industry, President of the Creusot Montceau Urban Community and Mayor of Le Creusot attend facility expansion ceremony

LE CREUSOT, France - Oct. 9, 2026 - Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, unveiled Friday the expansion of its Integrated Compressor Line (ICL) testing and production facility in Le Creusot, previously announced in 2025. Featuring dedicated variable-speed drive systems and upgraded testing positions, the expansion also includes the installation of a new low-speed balancing machine, a new furnace, and a machining center, further enhancing manufacturing capabilities and operational efficiency.

The upgrade to the Baker Hughes Le Creusot site, previously announced in 2025 and operated through French subsidiary Thermodyn, aims to double its production capacity for zero-emission* ICL technology. The testing facility was officially unveiled on Friday during a visit by French Minister Delegate for Industry Sébastien Martin, Mayor of Le Creusot Charles Landre, and President of the Creusot Montceau Urban Community Isabelle Louis, who joined Baker Hughes leaders and employees to mark the milestone and learn more about the company's capabilities in advanced manufacturing and support for both traditional energy sectors and emerging lower-carbon applications.

"This milestone represents a significant step forward for Baker Hughes, enabling us to serve our customers more efficiently through the expansion of our production and testing facilities in Europe, to support a more sustainable energy future," said Ahmed Eldemerdash, vice president, Climate Technology Solutions at Baker Hughes. "Demand continues to grow for solutions that improve reliability, performance, efficiency and sustainability. Meeting that demand requires more than just innovative products, but also the ability to design, deliver, assemble and test those solutions at scale."

The ICL zero-emissions* compressor has zero operational emissions, no oil lubrication requirements and a footprint up to 60% smaller compared to a traditional conventional compressor. Powered by an electric motor, it requires minimal downtime for maintenance, meaning it delivers maximum availability and efficient performance. The dedicated testing facility in Le Creusot is critical to deliver fully proven solutions at customer sites.

"This milestone for the Baker Hughes Le Creusot facility is a powerful example of how innovation and investment can strengthen France's manufacturing base while supporting the development of lower-emission technologies," said Sébastien Martin, French Minister Delegate for Industry.

For more than two centuries, Le Creusot has contributed to France's industrial history. Today, through technologies such as ICL, the site continues to establish itself as a driver of innovation for the energy systems of tomorrow. Baker Hughes operates eight industrial sites in France.

*Zero-emissions during operation and pressurized stand by. Being an electrical driven compressor, emissions are proportional to electrical grid power generation emissions. In case of green electrical power, ICL is removing up to 99% of emissions compared to gas-fired solutions.
