University of Toledo faculty members who earned tenure, promotion or both were recently recognized at the Tenure and Promotion Reception in Thompson Student Union.
Provost Mitchell S. McKinney and President James Holloway presented each faculty member with a certificate honoring their accomplishments.
UToledo faculty members who earned tenure, promotion or both were recently recognized at the Tenure and Promotion Reception in Thompson Student Union.
"Tenure and promotion recognize years of work that often happens out of sight: the hours in the lab and the archive, the time spent mentoring students and the service that keeps a university running," McKinney said. "Thursday's reception was a chance to celebrate that work alongside the colleagues, families and friends who helped make it possible. These faculty members shape what a UToledo education means, and I'm proud to call them colleagues."
As part of the recognition, each honoree selected a book that has been influential in their life, career or discipline. University Libraries purchased a copy of each book for one of its circulating collections, with an inscription acknowledging the faculty member.
The selections range from scholarly works central to their research to recent titles in their fields and childhood favorites that still resonate. The books will be on display in the first-floor lobby of Carlson Library until December. The display will include a link to an online library guide where faculty explain why they chose their books. The books will be displayed in Mulford Library beginning January of next year.
Honorees received approval from the UToledo Board of Trustees in April.
