Project updates for the week of May 11, 2026

Anderson County

Palestine crews are scheduled to perform edge repairs on Park Road 70 at the Texas State Railroad. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Anderson County construction projects updates:

FM 3309

  • Limits: Loop 256 to SH 155
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $1.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2026

FM 3309 will be closed to through traffic. Motorists should use caution and plan accordingly. Message boards have been put in place. This project consists of new pavement, base material, and drainage improvements.

US 175 Widening Project

  • Limits: From 0.4 miles SE of SH 155, SE to Cuney
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction, LTD
  • Cost: $55.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2026

The contractor is completing punch list items. The project will expand the roadway to four lanes with new bridges across the Neches River.

FM 1990; FM 861; FM 19 - Safety Improvement Project

  • Limits: FM 1990 - 0.1 mile north of Gum Creek to CR 2137; FM 861 - Box culvert to CR 100; FM 19 - SH 155 to 0.125 miles south of Caddo Creek
  • Contractor: THK Construction
  • Cost: $1.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2026

The contractor is scheduled to continue widening structures and clearing the areas near the bridge structures on FM 861 and FM 19. The project consists of improving drainage, driveways, culverts, and upgrading the guard rail for safety.

Cherokee County

Jacksonville crews will be repairing base failures on FM 855 between US 69 and US 175. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Rusk crews will be performing bridge maintenance at various locations throughout the county. Motorists should expect lane closures.

Cherokee County construction projects updates:

US 175 Widening Project

  • Limits: From 0.5 miles E of the Anderson County line (CR 3509) to FM 347 in Jacksonville
  • Contractor: A.L. Helmcamp, INC.
  • Cost: $168 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2028

The CR 3328, 3406, 3407, and 3416 intersections will be closed within the project limits. Motorists will need to use the posted detour routes. The contractor is scheduled to continue work on bridges and structure widening. Crews will also continue paving the new roadbeds between Cuney and Jacksonville in preparation for traffic switches. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the work limits. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph throughout the project limits. This project consists of expansion to a four-lane roadway with new bridges, grading, asphalt, drainage structures, pavement markings, and signage. (This project is in Cherokee County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

FM 855 Improvements

  • Limits: From US 175 to US 69
  • Contractor: 3LW Civil LLC
  • Cost: $4.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Winter 2027

The contractor is scheduled to place cross culverts. Motorists should drive with caution within the construction zone. Lane closures are anticipated. This project consists of improving drainage, cross culverts, driveways, mailbox turnouts, signage, and metal beam guard rail.

SH 204 - US 84/Nacogdoches County

  • Limits: From US 84 to the Nacogdoches County line
  • Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
  • Cost: $10.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2027

The contractor is scheduled to continue right of way work and begin setting culverts. Motorists should drive with caution within the construction zone. Lane closures are anticipated. This project consists of adding a super-two highway section.

SH 204

  • Limits: From SH 110 to the Rusk County line
  • Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
  • Cost: $17.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2026

This week, the contractor is scheduled to continue project closeout. Motorists should drive with caution within the construction zone. Lane closures are anticipated. This project consists of adding a super-two highway section.

US 69 and FM 2493 Grade Separated Interchange Realignment

  • Limits: US 69 - From 0.5 mi N of FM 2493 W to 0.5 mi south of FM 2493 E; FM 2493 - From 0.3 mi south of FM 344 to US 69 near Bullard
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $68 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2028

The project includes building a grade-separated interchange and realigning FM 2493 west of US 69. Work consists of bridge construction, grading, hot-mix asphalt concrete applications, structures, pavement markings, and signage. Motorists may experience occasional lane closures as construction activities progress and should remain alert for changing traffic patterns and posted signage throughout the work zone. Motorists should use caution on FM 2493 north of Panther Drive, near US 69, as construction activities continue. Short term lane closures are possible.

Gregg County

Crews are scheduled to prepare roads for sealcoat operations scheduled to begin the week of May 18. The roads will include FM 2275 from US 271 to FM 3272; SH 135 from I-20 to SH 31; and FM 2767.

Gregg County construction projects updates:

FM 2275

  • Limits: FM 3272 (White Oak Rd) to FM 1845 (Pine Tree Rd)
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road
  • Cost: $22.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2027

The project consists of widening from two lanes to four lanes. This will include a new bridge structure, pavement, metal beam guard fence, and striping. Crews are scheduled to install concrete barriers, excavating roadway to new grade, and building the new bridge.

I-20 at the Sabine River Bridge

  • Limits: 0.9 miles west of the Sabine River to 0.8 miles east of the Sabine River
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road
  • Cost: $36.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2028

This project consists of removal of the existing bridge and replacing with a new bridge. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction for the majority of the project. At times, I-20 will be reduced to one lane. This project includes new pavement, metal beam guard fence, signage, and striping. This week, the contractor is scheduled to drill shafts for the bridge structure.

I-20 Resurfacing

  • Limits: Sabine River bridge to the Harrison County line
  • Contractor: Grey Sky Construction LLC
  • Cost: $2.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2026

This project consists of milling asphalt off the surface and placing new hot mix asphalt from the Sabine River bridge to the Harrison County line. Work will be done in both the east and westbound lanes. The contractor is scheduled to perform punch list items and striping. Motorists should expect lane closures during overnight hours.

FM 2204

  • Limits: US 259 Bypass to FM 2011
  • Contractor: Madden Construction
  • Cost: $3.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2026

This project consists of clearing the right of way, hot mix operations, base failure repairs, and new striping and signage. Motorists should expect lane closures while work is in progress.

I-20/SH 31 Interchange

  • Limits: I-20 and SH 31 interchange
  • Contractor: Indus Road and Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $197.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2030

This project consists of clearing the right of way, removing the left exits from I-20 and replacing with right exits with a direct connector over I-20. This will go northbound and southbound on SH 31. New bridges will also be built over SH 31 and the UP Railroad on I-20. Two lanes will remain open throughout the project limits on I-20 and SH 31. The contractor will have occasional nighttime lane closures to perform work. This project also includes new hot mix application, new metal beam guard fence, concrete traffic barrier, signage, and pavement markings.

Spur 63 (McCann Rd)

  • Limits: US 80 to Loop 281
  • Contractor: Madden Construction
  • Cost: $3.17 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: October 2026

This project consists of milling off existing surface and replacing with new hot mix. It also includes base repair, manhole adjustments, permanent striping, and sign replacement. Work will be done at night. Motorists should expect delays and alternating lane closures.

SL 485 Widening

  • Limits: US 271 to US 80, east of Gladewater
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction LLC
  • Cost: $34.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2028

This project consists of grading, base work, asphalt surface replacement, storm drain work, bridge and culvert structures, signage, and signals. Crews are scheduled to continue cross structure work and construct temporary pavement. Motorists should expect lane closures and speed zone reductions. Delays are expected. (This project is in Gregg County but is managed by the Mineola Area Office.)

Henderson County

Athens crews are scheduled to perform ditch and bridge channel maintenance on various roadways. Crews are also scheduled to perform sign installation/maintenance and herbicide application at various locations. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Henderson County construction projects updates:

BUS 19 Sidewalks - College St.

  • Limits: From College St. to Ben Belt Dr.
  • Contractor: Scout 5 Construction LLC
  • Cost: $1.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2026

The project is underway and includes constructing sidewalk on both sides of BUS 19. Motorists should expect lane closures while work is in progress.

BUS 19 Sidewalks - Ben Belt Dr.

  • Limits: From Ben Belt Frontage Rd. To S Loop 7 ramps
  • Contractor: 3LW Civil, LCC
  • Cost: $2.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2026

The project is nearing completion, but motorists should be aware of potential lane closures. The contractor is finalizing areas along the corridor. Motorists should expect lane closures while work is in progress. The project includes sidewalk and pedestrian access improvements.

SH 31 Landscape Development

  • Limits: Within city limits of Chandler, TX; SH 31 and FM 315 S
  • Contractor: Scout 5 Construction LLC
  • Cost: $54,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2026

The contractor has completed major items of work. This project consists of adding landscaping, fresh vegetation, and edging.

SH 19 Super 2 Project

  • Limits: From 0.3 miles south of FM 1861 (Van Zandt C/L) south to 0.1 Mi. north of SL 7 in Athens (Watson)
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction LTD
  • Cost: $20.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor is scheduled to continue paving the final surface and edge work. The speed limit is reduced to 60 mph throughout the project limits. This project includes adding a passing lane in both directions at multiple locations. It also includes grading, drainage structures, pavement markings, and signage.

BUS 31 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: From BUS 19 to SL 7
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction LTD
  • Cost: $8.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work are complete.

The contractor has completed all major items of work and is working on punch list items. The project includes removal of current surface, base repairs, resurfacing, striping, and signage.

Rusk County

Henderson maintenance crews are scheduled to repair base failures on FM 782. Also, contractor crews will be removing trees at various locations. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic.

Rusk County construction projects updates:

US 259

  • Limits: US 259 Bypass south to FM 850
  • Contractor: True Roads Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $2.49 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2026

This project consists of removing some crossovers for safety and adding left turn lanes to the remaining crossovers. The contractor is scheduled to backfill the new embankment for the new turn lanes and laying new asphalt.

SH 315

  • Limits: US 259 to the Panola County line
  • Contractor: Madden Construction
  • Cost: $13.5 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: May 2026

This project consists of widening pavement edges and installing a separation between opposing traffic lanes to improve safety. Work will also include adding a passing lane in each direction. This week, the contractor will address punch list items.

SH 64 - Left turn lane

  • Limits: CR 4133 to Loop 571
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road LTD.
  • Cost: $13.6 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: October 2027

This project consists of building a two-way left turn lane, clearing right of way, new hot mix, striping, and construction of a new bridge. Motorists should expect delays throughout the project limits and alternating lane closures.

Smith County

Tyler Maintenance crews are scheduled to perform sealcoat operations on FM 1804, FM 3271, FM 1089, and FM 838. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Motorists should also be advised: the adjacent intersecting roadways at these locations may be affected by additional lane closures. Additional crews will be performing herbicide operations, pothole repair, and edge repair throughout the county.

Smith County construction projects updates:

US 69 and Henderson St. (FM 344)

  • Limits: US 69 at Henderson St.
  • Contractor: Tight Line Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $209,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor has no work scheduled this week. This project consists of beautification work along US 69 in Bullard.

FM 2493 Widen Non-Freeway

  • Limits: FM 346 in Flint, south to 0.3 miles south of FM 344
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road LTD
  • Cost: $78.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2029

The new CR 172 detour is now open. Message boards are in place. This project consists of widening the existing non-freeway roadway.

District Bridge Rehabilitation

  • Limits: Various locations in the Tyler District
  • Contractor: Built Right Construction of Oklahoma, LLC.
  • Cost: $3 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor is scheduled to begin addressing punch list items. This project consists of cleaning and sealing existing joints, plane existing overlay, resurfacing bridge deck, metal beam guard fence, steel, and concrete repairs.

I-20 Bridge Maintenance

  • Limits: Bridge locations between Smith and Van Zandt Counties
  • Contractor: Southern Bridge and Road, LLC
  • Cost: $3.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

Motorists should expect nightly lane closures on east and westbound I-20 at CR 438. This project is bridge maintenance consisting of cleaning and painting the existing steel bridge structures.

I-20 Bridge Rehabilitation

  • Limits: Various locations in the Tyler city limits
  • Contractor: Built Right Construction of Oklahoma, LLC.
  • Cost: $8.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

Motorists should expect lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-20 at SH 110 as crews continue work. A detour will be in place at the SH 110 and I-20 bridge and crews continue work. This project consists of cleaning and sealing existing joints, resurfacing the bridge deck, steel and concrete repairs.

SH 155 Traffic Signal Improvements

  • Limits: Fannin Parkway to I-20
  • Contractor: Longview Bridge & Road, LTD.
  • Cost: $1.96 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2026

The contractor is scheduled to continue shoulder widening. Lane closures are expected. This project consists of installing a new traffic signal, grading, signage, striping, and widening.

New Copeland Rd. Pedestrian Improvements

  • Limits: Intersections of Sutherland and Grande; New Copeland Rd. and Rose Ruddman Trail
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay LTD.
  • Cost: $580,000
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Fall 2026

The contractor is scheduled to begin sidewalk and concrete removal at the Grande and Sutherland intersection. Lane closures are possible. This project consists of safety updates including installation of a pedestrian traffic signal, ramp, and pavement markings.

FM 756 Resurfacing

  • Limits: SL 323 to Jeff Davis Dr.
  • Contractor: Drewery Construction Company, Inc.
  • Cost: $3.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor is scheduled to begin work near Loop 323. Work will be done at night. Lane closures are expected. This project consists of resurfacing, installation of a metal beam guard fence, rumble strips, and pavement markings.

FM 16 Widening and Realignment

  • Limits: Four miles west of FM 849 east to US 69 in Lindale
  • Contractor: Highway 19 Construction LLC
  • Cost: $44.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: February 2027

The project consists of grading, asphalt base, asphalt surface overlay paving, storm drain, bridge, and culvert structures, signing, pavement markings, and signals. A traffic shift is currently in place through town. Traffic will be in two lanes during this phase of construction. Traffic is now moved to the newly constructed side of FM 16. Removal of the existing FM 16 is underway. Work will also continue on bridges on old portion of FM 16. Construction west of Toll 49 is ongoing. (This project is in Smith County but is managed by the Mineola Area Office.)

SH 31 Resurfacing

  • Limits: Henderson County line to FM 206
  • Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.
  • Cost: $7.4 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work are complete.

The contractor has wrapped up all major items of work and will begin working on final punch list items.

Van Zandt County

Canton crews are scheduled to work on FM 751 in Wills Point. Tuesday through Friday, crews will move to FM 3227 and RR 2909. Motorists should drive with caution.

Van Zandt County construction projects updates:

FM 17, FM 47, and FM 859 Bridge Replacement

  • Limits: Bridge at FM 17, FM 47, and FM 859 over I-20
  • Contractor: Indus Bridge and Road
  • Cost: $14.5 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Major items of work are completed.

This project includes construction of new bridges and approaches, grading, base and surface work, and installation of metal beam guard fencing. Motorists should expect reduced speed limits and narrowed shoulders on both the I-20 main lanes and frontage roads. All bridges are open to traffic. The contractor is working on punch list items on all bridges.

FM 1255 Rehabilitate Existing Roadway

  • Limits: I-20 to SH 110
  • Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD.
  • Cost: $17.1 Million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: November 2026

This project is for the rehabilitation of the existing roadway consisting of roadway widening, grading, rework base material, cement treatment, flex base, resurfacing intersections & driveways, extending cross structures, signs, and pavement markings. Work will be completed under live traffic conditions. Right of way prep and stump removal are ongoing. Roadway rehabilitation operations are ongoing. This work also consists of milling the existing roadway. Lane closures and speed zone reductions are expected. Motorists should expect delays.

SH 19 Super 2 Project

  • Limits: US 80 to I-20
  • Contractor: Big Creek Construction, LTD
  • Cost: $11.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2027

This project consists of base repair, subgrade repair, asphalt work, sealcoat, culvert structures, signage, and striping. Crews will be installing drainage devices for the driveways and cross structures.

I-20 Mill and Inlay Project

  • Limits: 4 miles west of FM 17 in Canton, east to 1.1 mile east of FM 16
  • Contractor: Austin Bridge & Road Services, LP
  • Cost: $6.28 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

This project consists of removing the existing surface in the eastbound lane and replacing with new hot mix. Project is scheduled to begin on May 17. Work will be completed at night. Motorists should expect nightly lane closures.

FM 1651 Rehabilitate Existing Roadway

  • Limits: From SH 198 east to SH 19
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC.
  • Cost: $10.5 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

The contractor is scheduled to continue work on driveways and edges. Motorists should expect daily lane closures. This project includes widening the road, repairing the base, adding signs, and painting new stripes. Crews will complete groundwork in one-mile segments. Drivers should expect lane closures and slower speed limits in the area. Motorists should expect delays. (This project is in Van Zandt County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

FM 279 Rehabilitation

  • Limits: 0.24 miles east of FM 314 to SH 64
  • Contractor: Big Creek LLC.
  • Cost: $7.8 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: Summer 2026

Crews are scheduled to install new signage and mailboxes. Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling through the area. Lane closures are in place. The project consists of grading, drainage improvements, asphalt paving, striping, and signage. (This project is in Van Zandt County but is managed by the Athens Area Office.)

Wood County construction projects updates:

US 69 Grade-Separated Interchange

  • Limits: From 0.96 miles north of FM 779 to 1.03 miles south of FM 779
  • Contractor: Lamar Companies, LLC
  • Cost: $37.9 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2026

This project consists of grading, base, asphalt, drainage, structures, overpass, signing, and striping. The project also includes curb and gutter work along the frontage roads. Crews are scheduled to continue retaining wall work and prepare for work on second bridge. Traffic is now on temporary paving south of existing US 69. Motorists should expect delays when work is in progress and be cautious of large equipment.

SH 37 Two-way Left Turn Lane

  • Limits: From CR 2460 to CR 2320
  • Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC
  • Cost: $4.1 million
  • Anticipated Completion Date: August 2026

This project consists of widening the roadway to install a continuous two-way left turn lane. The project will start with crews removing trees from the right of way and installing erosion control measures.
