End of Boil Water Notice

The boil water notice issued for a small portion of City of Concord customers in areas north of I-85 and NC-73 has been lifted. Water quality tests confirmed the drinking water for the small portion of Concord served by the City of Kannapolis drinking water system is now safe for all uses, effective immediately. Customers no longer need to boil their water before use or consumption. Impacted businesses in the affected area may now reopen and should follow the health and safety guidelines provided by the Cabarrus Health Alliance.

What to do before using water in your home:

  • Flush Water Faucets: Open all cold and hot water taps throughout your home and let them run for at least 15 minutes to clear the service lines, and to ensure the water in your water heater is replaced with fresh, treated water.
  • Refresh Ice and Water Systems: Throw away ice made before the notice was lifted. Cycle your ice maker or water dispenser at least three times before using. Sanitize the ice reservoir before returning to normal use.
  • Maintain Appliances: Run your dishwasher on a full, empty cycle using the hot water setting to flush any potentially stagnant water from the system. Flush water lines connected to your refrigerator, such as the water dispenser and ice maker.
  • Water Filters: Replace all water filter cartridges, including those in refrigerators, pitchers, and under-sink systems, as they may have trapped contaminants.
  • Shower and Laundry: Flush your showerheads by running them for several minutes, and run your washing machine through a cycle on the hot setting before washing clothes.
