Loudoun Seeks Comments on Plan for Reducing Pollutants Entering the Chesapeake Bay

Loudoun County is seeking public comments on a draft plan for reducing pollutants entering the Chesapeake Bay.

The "Phase III Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Action Plan" outlines ways that the county is meeting requirements for reducing the quantity of pollutants entering the Chesapeake Bay via the county's municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4). A TMDL establishes the maximum amount of a pollutant that can enter a water body and still meet water quality standards for public health and healthy ecosystems.

The Phase III plan provides an update on the actions that the county has achieved to date and outlines best management practices that are planned to meet future TMDL goals.

The deadline to submit comments on the plan is Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The draft plan is online at loudoun.gov/stormwaterplan. Comments can be directed to the Stormwater Management Program by email or by phone at 703-777-0117.

More information about Loudoun County's Stormwater Management Program, including the MS4 permit and regulations, may be found at loudoun.gov/stormwater.
