The Marion County Board of County Commissioners continues its commitment to keeping the community clean and beautiful by recognizing those who go above and beyond in the fight against litter.
Today, the County proudly presented its Community Impact Award to Marion County's judges in recognition of their ongoing support and dedication to maintaining clean roadways and green spaces throughout the community.
The Community Impact Award was created to honor individuals and organizations making a meaningful difference in reducing litter and protecting Marion County's natural environment. County leaders emphasized that progress in this effort depends on strong partnerships with those willing to take action and lead by example.
Accepting the award on behalf of the judiciary, Judge Timothy McCourt highlighted the personal investment judges have in the community. "All of the judges in Marion County live here in Marion County and that's why we care," he said.
He also spoke to the impact of accountability in reducing litter. "After a few weekends of picking up litter, these individuals become very aware of where they put their trash," McCourt added.
Emphasizing the broader importance of the effort, McCourt noted, "The people of Marion County deserve clean roadsides and clean public spaces."
Through their leadership and commitment to enforcement, Marion County's judges play a vital role in strengthening efforts to prevent littering and promote environmental responsibility. Their work helps reinforce accountability while fostering a sense of community pride.
"Keeping Marion County clean takes a community-wide effort," said Marion County Commissioner Craig Curry. "Our judges demonstrate every day how leadership and accountability can make a lasting impact on the places we live, work, and enjoy."
Marion County remains focused on initiatives that reduce litter, protect natural resources, and preserve the beauty of the community for residents and visitors alike.
