Philanthropic Support from OneAmerica Financial establishes first endowed Master Clinician role at IU Health

Indianapolis - Indiana University Health Foundation announced a philanthropic commitment from OneAmerica Financial that, coupled with matching dollars from IU Health, will create a transformational investment in neuroscience and brain health at IU Health.

The funding establishes the OneAmerica Financial IU Health Foundation Master Clinician designation, recognizing Dr. Jared Brosch, a nationally-recognized neurologist and leader in Alzheimer's disease, dementia and brain health.

The commitment is part of a broader $2 million investment supporting multiple IU Health Foundation initiatives focused on improving the health and well-being of Hoosiers. Together, these investments reflect a shared commitment to advancing innovation, expanding access to care and strengthening the health of communities across Indiana.

The announcement was made on June 30 during the IU Health Foundation's Hoosier Health Series: Bringing Hope to Alzheimer's Patients and Families, presented by OneAmerica Financial and featuring Dr. Brosch and Jeff Levin, vice president and head of Care Solutions at OneAmerica Financial.

The OneAmerica Financial IU Health Foundation Master Clinician position holds the distinction of being IU Health's first endowed and named Master Clinician role. Established in 2021, the IU Health Foundation Master Clinician Program was created to strengthen clinical excellence within cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience and transplant services by attracting and retaining nationally recognized physician leaders whose primary focus is high-impact clinical care. Master Clinicians also partner with the Foundation on philanthropic strategy and serve as visible leaders who advance IU Health's mission, culture and reputation for clinical excellence.

"At IU Health, our ability to attract and support exceptional physician leaders is essential to advancing innovation and delivering world-class care," said Crystal Miller, president of IU Health Foundation. "This transformational investment from OneAmerica Financial recognizes Dr. Brosch's extraordinary leadership while creating lasting support for neuroscience and brain health across Indiana."

Headquartered in Indianapolis, the companies of OneAmerica Financial have spent almost 150 years helping individuals, families and businesses navigate life's uncertainties. The company's mission to be there to create certainty when customers need them most aligns closely with IU Health's commitment to improving health outcomes and supporting patients and families through some of life's most challenging moments.

The OneAmerica Financial investment is inspired by both its longstanding work in the long-term care space and the growing impact cognitive impairment and dementia have on families, caregivers, employers and communities.

"Over the course of my career, I've seen firsthand that the impact of Alzheimer's disease and cognitive decline extends far beyond the individual patient," said Jeff Levin, vice president and head of Care Solutions at OneAmerica Financial. "It affects families, caregivers, workplaces and entire communities. More than half of the long-term care claims we see involve cognitive impairment. When we learned about Dr. Brosch's vision for improving care, expanding access and creating better outcomes for patients and families, we saw an opportunity to invest in something that can create lasting impact, not only for today, but for future generations."

Dr. Brosch is a board-certified neurologist who specializes in dementia-related conditions, including Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia. He leads IU's Brain Health Program and serves as a principal investigator on Alzheimer's clinical trials, advancing new treatments while supporting patients and families throughout their care journey.

Support from the OneAmerica Financial IU Health Foundation Master Clinician designation will help advance efforts to identify patients earlier, connect them to emerging treatments, expand education and outreach initiatives, strengthen support for caregivers and improve access to specialized brain health services throughout Indiana.

"One of the most exciting aspects of this partnership is the alignment around helping people live independently longer and supporting the families who care for them," said Dr. Jared Brosch. "Philanthropy allows us to think beyond traditional funding models and build new partnerships, expand caregiver resources, improve access to care in underserved communities and create innovative approaches that otherwise would not be possible. This investment helps us accelerate work that can improve the lives of patients and families today while shaping the future of brain health for generations to come."

As new Alzheimer's therapies and preventive approaches emerge, Dr. Brosch believes philanthropy will play an increasingly important role in ensuring those advances reach more people.

"There is tremendous momentum in neuroscience right now," Brosch said. "The future isn't just about finding the next treatment. It's about identifying people earlier, connecting them to care, supporting caregivers and building communities that help individuals live well throughout their journey. This investment helps us create those models of care and expand hope for families across Indiana."

The OneAmerica Financial commitment and matching investment will create a source of support for neurological care, innovation, education and outreach, helping ensure Indiana remains at the forefront of advances in Alzheimer's disease and brain health.
