Temporary Changes to Case Assignments

Starting on October 5, 2026, Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Shon Hastings from the District of North Dakota and Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Laura L. Kulm Ask from the District of South Dakota will temporarily be assigned new Minnesota chapter 7, 12, and 13 cases filed in specific counties. Click here for a list of the counties that are impacted by these upcoming case assignment changes.

The Court's website will be updated to provide the new chambers contact information and any practice pointers. In addition, an updated chapter 13 hearing calendar will also be posted to the court's website. Please note that all District of Minnesota local rules and procedures will continue to apply to any Minnesota case assigned to Judge Hastings or Judge Kulm Ask. Judge Hastings and Judge Kulm Ask plan to hold preliminary hearings remotely.

To implement these case assignment changes, CM/ECF will be unavailable from 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, to 2:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026.
