Gather along the riverfront for the Toledo Celebrates 250: Fireworks in the 419 Celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Fireworks will launch at dark, with prime viewing from both sides of the river.
Special Event Safety Zone
With more than 80,000 visitors expected downtown this year, a special event safety zone will be in effect from July 4 at 6 p.m. to July 5 at 6 a.m., covering the areas where our crowds are most dense, indicated in red on the map below.

Safety zone rules in effect:

Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other designated adult older than 21.*

No coolers or backpacks will be permitted. All bags will be subject to inspection by law enforcement and security.

No fireworks, including firecrackers, bottle rockets, smoke bombs, pop-its, sparklers, or any other type of explosive is permitted.

No masks or face coverings.

All recreational vehicles are prohibited in the event area, including e-bikes, scooters, and golf carts.
*Enhanced penalties can be imposed on parents where a minor is involved in disorderly conduct, refusal to disperse, possession of alcohol, marijuana, or weapons, or assault. Unaccompanied minors will be escorted out of the special event zone.
Parking Information

Most event parking is located on the downtown side of the river. Attendees are strongly encouraged to park downtown or use TARTA's shuttle service.

Some downtown garages (Edison, High Tower, and ProMedica) will be held post-fireworks until pedestrian traffic clears. Vehicles in the Port Lawrence and Superior garages will be directed out by law enforcement.

Parking lots at Glass City Metropark - Downriver will close early to vehicular traffic due to limited in-park parking areas. Walk-in traffic will still be permitted. Vehicular exit after the fireworks will be out on Front St. towards I-280 only.

Additional parking will be available at Glass City Metropark - Upriver (formerly International Park) in the large lot behind The Docks restaurants. Vehicular exit after the fireworks will be out on Main St. with right turn only to Front St. Vehicles could be held post-fireworks until pedestrian traffic clears. Vehicles will be directed out by law enforcement.
Promenade Park
Promenade Park will be transformed into a riverfront festival zone with local music, food trucks, and drink vendors beginning at 6 p.m.

The splash pad will remain open during the event.

Food vendors will be in the park and parked along Summit St.

Visitors 21+ can purchase beverages from local vendors until 10 p.m.

Nikki D & the Sisters of Thunder will begin playing at 6 p.m. Distant Cousinz will go on at 8 p.m.

Free Wifi is provided in the park by Buckeye Cable.
Glass City Metropark - Downriver
Glass City Metropark offers excellent riverfront views of the fireworks and is a popular spot for nearby neighborhood visitors. Parking will be extremely limited, and lots will close to vehicle traffic early. Walk-in access only will be permitted during the fireworks.

The park will close early to vehicular traffic at due to limited parking. Walk-in traffic will be permitted to view the fireworks.

The Garden by Poco Piatti will sell food and drinks inside Market Hall.

Visitors must have a parking pass to park at the National Museum of the Great Lakes or Glass City Marina lots. These lots are reserved for museum visitors and Glass City Marina seasonal slip holders only.

Glass City Metropark - Upriver (formerly International Park, by The Docks restaurants)
Public parking is available in the large lot behind The Docks restaurants. Once the lot is full, only walk-in access will be permitted during the fireworks.

The parking lot immediately next to The Docks restaurants is reserved for restaurant patrons only.

Public parking is available only in the large public lot across Boers-Boyer Way.
Middlegrounds Metropark
Middlegrounds Metropark will be closed to vehicular traffic but will remain open for walk-in traffic for fireworks viewing.
Boat Dock Access
Public Boat Docking
Boaters may reserve one of the 46 day-use slips along the Glass City Riverwalk downtown near Promenade Park, operated by Brenner75 Marine. Dock reservations will open up on Tuesday, June 30 at 12 p.m. for the July 4th fireworks.

Marine Traffic Rules

A "No Wake Zone" will be in effect between the I-280 Bridge and the High-Level Bridge.

Exclusion Zones will be marked by buoys near the fireworks launch site at International Park.

Emergency-only marine channels will be enforced.

Marine patrol units will continue to patrol the river following the fireworks and assist boaters as needed.
Getting Downtown
TARTA Shuttle Service:
TARTA will provide $3 rides from Franklin Park Mall (Royer Road bus shelters) to downtown.

The last inbound shuttle departs at 10:00 p.m.

Return trips begin approximately 20 minutes after the fireworks conclude, with pickup at Jackson and N. St. Clair Streets.

TARTA Move paratransit service is available until 8:20 p.m.

Water Taxi (J&M Cruise Lines):
A convenient river option connects the downtown side to the east side.

Road Closures and Post-Event Traffic

MLK Jr. Memorial Bridge will close to vehicles at approximately 9 p.m. and reopen once both pedestrian and marine traffic have cleared. Pedestrian access will remain open.

Summit Street will close at 9 p.m. between Washington and Cherry, including closures at St. Clair for eastbound Jackson, Adams, and Jefferson.

Front Street (between East Broadway and Main) and Main Street (at Boers-Boyer Way/Riverside Trail) will close around 9:45 p.m.

Boers-Boyer Way at Glass City Metropark-Upriver (formerly International Park) will be closed all day from Miami St. to The Docks restaurants.

Viewing Tips and Reminders

Most parking for fireworks viewing is available on the downtown side of the Maumee River. Parking and vehicle access on the East Side of the river will be extremely limited.

Skip the parking hassle and take the $3 TARTA shuttle from Franklin Park Mall to Downtown Toledo.

Use only designated paved parking areas. No parking in grassy or natural areas at Metroparks viewing sites. Towing will be enforced.

Do not stop on the side of the road to watch fireworks.
-
Be patient when exiting the downtown area and obey traffic officers.
-
Avoid blocking intersections to ensure smooth flow.
