Quintet Statement Ahead of Visit to Khartoum, the Republic of Sudan, 08 – 10

The Quintet (African Union, IGAD, League of Arab States, European Union and United Nations) in continuation of its sustained engagement with Sudanese stakeholders, the Principals will undertake a Good Offices mission to Khartoum on the 08 - 10 September 2026. The purpose of this visit is to pursue direct political consultations with Sudanese stakeholders on the ground.

During the mission, the Quintet will listen to assessments of the current situation and share reflections on its work to date.

In recent months, the Quintet has engaged Sudanese political and civilian stakeholders with the objective of establishing an inclusive political track to achieve a democratic civilian led government.

The Quintet remains in close coordination with the Quad (the United States, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates) and other international partners to help advance a coherent and viable political path towards peace in Sudan.
