Jun 09, 2025

The Joliet Junior College (JJC) women's golf team dominated all four rounds of the 2025 NJCAA Division III Women's Golf National Championships to capture the program's first national title in Chautauqua, New York.

The Wolves earned a team total of 1,527 and a team score of +375 in "a real grind on a hilly course," according to head coach Skip Steffey.

"A year of careful planning, practice and preparation all came to fruition in a national championship for our women," Steffey said. "Consistent and solid play was the key as our four women finished fourth, sixth, seventh and tenth. No one blew up during all four rounds."

Sarah Mills paced the Wolves to a fourth-place finish. After the first round, she was +15 but finished the next three rounds +14, +15 and +12, respectively, to finish +66.

Adrianna Cottrell earned a sixth-place finish at +91 (+24, +26, +21 and +20). Alexis Hora, who was in the top six for much of the tournament, finished seventh at +101 (+24, +25, +22 and +30). Kenady Miller placed 10th at +117 (+31, +31, +27 and +28).

All four Wolves earned NJCAA All-American honors for their achievements in the national tournament.

"Assistant coach Brook Ammons did a great job helping the women navigate the tricky greens," Steffey said.

Coach Steffey earned honors of his own and was presented with the 2025 NJCAA DIII Women's Golf Championship Coach of the Tournament award.
