Rep. McBride to Attend Munich Security Conference

Washington, DC - Today, Congresswoman Sarah McBride (DE-At Large) departed for Germany to participate in the Munich Security Conference, where global leaders convene to address the most pressing security and foreign policy challenges facing democratic nations.

This year's conference comes at a moment of profound strain on democratic institutions and international cooperation. Leaders will examine the resilience of the transatlantic partnership, the future of NATO, and the durability of the rules-based order that has helped preserve peace and prosperity for generations.

"We are living through a moment when institutions and alliances are being tested around the world," said Rep. McBride."Liberal democracy may be slower and more complex, but it is durable - and it works. It is the most reliable system for delivering freedom, stability, and prosperity."

Rep. McBride emphasized that defending democratic values abroad is inseparable from protecting families at home.

"What happens in Munich affects families in Delaware," McBride continued. "When global security is destabilized, Delawareans feel it through higher energy costs, disrupted supply chains, cyber threats to hospitals and small businesses, and increased risks for our servicemembers. Strengthening our alliances and reinforcing democratic resilience helps protect Delaware jobs, Delaware families, and Delaware communities."

McBride will highlight the importance of NATO and democratic partnerships as strategic force multipliers for the United States.

"Our alliances are strongest when they are rooted in shared democratic values," she said. "At a time when some are tempted to retreat into short-term or transactional approaches, we face a choice: dismantle what has preserved stability for decades, or strengthen and reform it to meet today's challenges. I believe in building - strengthening institutions, deepening partnerships, and ensuring America continues to lead with both strength and principle."

Rep. McBride's participation in the Munich Security Conference reflects her commitment to advancing policies that protect American leadership abroad while delivering results for Delaware at home.
